Turkey’s Erdogan to meet Azerbaijan Prez in Nakhchivan exclave

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet his counterpart Ilham Aliyev within the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan on Monday, Turkish media reported Sunday.

The 2 allies mentioned in June they wished to step up efforts to open a land hall linking Turkey to Azerbaijan’s predominant territory by way of Nakhchivan and Armenia, a longstanding and sophisticated undertaking.

The assembly follows a lightning Azerbaijani offensive which recaptured the separatist Nagorno-Karabakh enclave, primarily populated by ethnic Armenians.

The Turkish president has repeatedly expressed his help for Azerbaijan’s military this week.

Azerbaijan Thursday held a primary spherical of “reintegration” talks with the ethnic-Armenian rebels after they agreed to put down their arms within the face of the day-long navy assault.

Some consultants consider Azerbaijan might now search to push its benefit and launch operations in southern Armenia to create territorial continuity with the Nakhchivan exclave.
