Reacting to the India-Canada diplomatic row, Sri Lankan Overseas Minister Ali Sabry on Monday stated that terrorists have discovered protected haven within the North American nation and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has this manner of popping out with outrageous allegations.

“I don’t think anyone should poke their nose into other countries and tell as to how we should govern our country. We love our country more than anyone else. That’s why we are in our country. We are not very happy about that statement at all. Indian Ocean identity is very important and we need to strengthen the regional architecture. We have to look after our region. We need to work together. That’s how we can create a peaceful environment. We should not be dictated by anyone else as to how we should conduct our affairs”, he added.
Earlier, Sri Lanka rejected the assertion issued by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau containing “outrageous claims” of genocide referring to the previous battle in Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan Ministry of Overseas Affairs stated that such irresponsible and polarising pronouncements by the chief of a nation breeds disharmony and hatred each in Canada and Sri Lanka, as an alternative of selling peace and reconciliation.
