Finland blocks property transactions by Russian buyers

The defence ministry of Finland introduced on Thursday that it has halted three scheduled actual property offers with Russian patrons as a result of approving the purchases may make it harder to defend Finnish territory.

“The real estate acquisitions in question can be considered to hinder the organisation of national defence or the surveillance and safeguarding of territorial integrity,” the ministry stated in a press release.

In accordance with the ministry of defence, the choice impacts two properties in Ruokolahti and one in Kitee, each of that are near the Russian border in southern Finland.

After the European Union imposed sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, Finland lately tried to expedite the confiscation of actual property owned by Russians. The nation cited Russian homeowners’ problem paying their prices and taxes as justification.

As it’s now illegal to evict homeowners resulting from unpaid funds if an official notification can’t be delivered to them, the Finnish authorities plans to make laws relating to notifying Russian homeowners simpler to grasp.
