Spanish top-division soccer league LaLiga on Friday signed an settlement with the West Bengal authorities to arrange an academy within the state. The MoU was signed throughout a closed-door assembly between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and LaLiga president Javier Tebas in Madrid.
The academy will assist in nurturing younger abilities.
Banerjee, who’s on a 12-day journey to Spain, met Tebas in Madrid on Thursday night and held a closed-door assembly, which focussed on strengthening relations by way of linking sports activities and cultural establishments.

“This remarkable MoU intends to promote football to foster sportsmanship, health, and prosperity. La Liga will develop a football training academy in West Bengal,” an official stated.
What’s the settlement?
In accordance with the settlement, coaches and gamers from the state shall be educated by the coaches of LaLiga.
They can even share their expertise and experience to help the soccer golf equipment of West Bengal and make them self-sustainable, the official stated.
Banerjee was accompanied by former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and senior officers of Kolkata soccer giants Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting Membership.
Banerjee invited Tebas to West Bengal, and requested him to be current throughout a pleasant match.
“Be our guest, feel the football mania in Bengal. The kind of football frenzy you witness in Bengal is unparalleled,” she informed the La Liga president.
In reply, he stated, “I have no doubt that Bengal is the talent factory of football, and has produced some of India’s finest players.”
Ganguly, the cricket icon, stated the academy can be a constructive step for creating abilities within the state.
