Footage of a uncommon Tibetan brown bear – the japanese Himalayan subspecies of brown bear -spotted for the primary time within the excessive altitude areas of North Sikkim have been making rounds on social media.
The uncommon animal was documented with the joint effort of the Sikkim Forest Division and the World Wildlife Fund, in line with a put up shared on X by Indian Forest Service (IFS) Parveen Kaswan.

Digital camera traps captured the bear (scientific identify: Ursus arctos pruinosus) with its attribute yellowish scarf-like collar that broadens from the shoulders to the chest in Mangan district final month, reported PTI.

The Tibetan brown bear, also referred to as the Tibetan blue bear, is likely one of the rarest subspecies of bears on the earth, and isn’t sighted within the wild. Only some had been sighted from Nepal, Bhutan and the Tibetan plateau.
With help from Lachen Dzumsa, a conventional socio-political establishment of North Sikkim, a forest and wildlife division group arrange digital camera traps in excessive altitudes of Mangan district and captured this elusive bear.
