Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday laid the muse stone of an Worldwide Cricket Stadium in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.
Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, BCCI president Roger Binny and BCCI secretary Jay Shah had been among the many dignitaries current on the occasion.
PM Modi who began his speech with a ‘Har Har Mahadev’ chant, mentioned that the stadium might be devoted to ‘Mahadev’. “This stadium in the city of ‘Mahadev’ will be dedicated to ‘Mahadev’ himself. The sportspersons here will benefit from the construction of an international stadium in Kashi. This stadium will become the star of Purvanchal region,” he added.
“Earlier, well-equipped stadiums were present only in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. However, players even in remote places are now being provided with these facilities,” he mentioned.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has spent Rs 121 crore on land acquisition to assemble the stadium whereas the Board of Management for Cricket in India (BCCI) has earmarked a finances of Rs 330 crores for the stadium’s building.
The thematic structure of this stadium attracts inspiration from Lord Shiva, with designs developed for crescent-shaped roof covers, trident-shaped floodlights, ghat steps-based seating, and Bilvipatra-shaped metallic sheets on the facade. The stadium could have a capability of 30,000 spectators.
