India now has 97 crore voters, EC says

With Lok Sabha polls simply across the nook, the Election Fee on Friday introduced that India now has almost 97 crore voters who can train their proper to franchise.

About two crore voters added to the record are aged between 18 and 29.

There was a six per cent enhance in registered voters from 2019, when the final Lok Sabha polls have been held.

“The largest electorate in the world – 96.88 crore are registered to vote for the forthcoming General Elections in India,” the EC mentioned.

The gender ratio has elevated from 940 in 2023 to 948 in 2024, the ballot panel mentioned.

The Fee has put particular emphasis on purity and well being of the electoral roll together with disclosures and transparency within the revision of electoral rolls, an official identified.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar defined at a press convention in Pune the assorted duties concerned within the revision of electoral rolls together with the participation of political events at each stage.
