An Assam Rifles soldier allegedly opened fireplace at six of his colleagues earlier than capturing himself in Manipur on Wednesday. The incident occurred in an Assam Rifles battalion deployed close to the Indo-Myanmar border in south Manipur.
All of the six troopers (all non-natives of Manipur) fired at by the Assam Rifles jawan had been injured within the incident. They had been evacuated to Navy Hospital for additional therapy and reported to be secure.
Assam Rifles launched a press release saying there was no relation in any way of this explicit incident to the continued ethnic battle in Manipur.

“All Assam Rifles battalions have mixed class composition including those belonging to various communities from Manipur. All personnel have been staying and operating together despite polarisation of society to maintain peace and stability in Manipur,” the assertion added.

The solider who open fired at his colleagues hails from Churachandpur in Manipur and had not too long ago joined obligation in Assam Rifles, Hindustan Occasions report citied official conscious of the matter as saying.
