Bihar CM Nitish Kumar quits ruling alliance, hands over resignation letter to Governor

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) nationwide president Nitish Kumar arrived on the Raj Bhavan in Patna and handed over his resignation to Governor Rajendra Arlekar on Sunday.

Calling on the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Nitish advised him, “We have decided to sever ties with the Mahagathbandhan in the state”.

The event comes amid a deafening buzz that Nitish would rejoin the BJP-led Nationwide Democratic Alliance (NDA), bringing an finish to the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ rule within the state.

The fast-changing political occasions within the state had been triggered by a social media put up from former CM and RJD chief Lalu Yadav’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, through which she took a swipe on the JD(U) saying that whereas the ‘socialist party’ types itself as progressive, its ideology shifts with the altering wind patterns.

If Nitish crosses over, it could mark the fourth time that he can be switching sides.

Within the Bihar Meeting of 243, the RJD has 79 MLAs; adopted by the BJP at 78; JD(U) at 45, Congress at 19, the CPI (M-L) at 12, CPI(M) and CPI at 2 every, and the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular)’s at 4. One other two seats are with the AIMIM and an Impartial.

Earlier, in a recent put up, Rohini Acharya mentioned her battle towards ‘communal forces’ will proceed until demise.

“Our fight against the communal forces will continue till our last breath,” she posted on X.
