Fourteen Bangladeshi nationals, together with 4 kids, who have been allegedly making an attempt to illegally enter into India have been held in Tripura’s Gomati district on Sunday.

Performing on a tip-off, raids have been carried out at two homes in Baishnabpur village close to the worldwide border, and the unlawful immigrants have been held, mentioned Apu Das, the officer-in-charge of the Sabroom police station.

“We also arrested three locals who provided shelter to these Bangladeshi nationals,” he mentioned.

The 62-km border in Sabroom subdivision couldn’t be absolutely fenced on account of geographical issues, and human traffickers are utilizing it consequently, Das mentioned.

“We are showing zero tolerance towards human trafficking. Those accused of assisting in infiltration are also being booked under stringent charges that deal with human trafficking,” he mentioned.
