Jawan: Director Atlee wishes to send his film to Oscars, says, ‘Will talk to Shah Rukh Khan’

Filmmaker Atlee is currently riding high on the blockbuster success of Jawan, which portrays Shah Rukh Khan like never before. In an interview with ETimes, he spoke about if it deserves to got for the Oscars. “Of course, even Jawan should go, if everything falls in place. I think every effort, everybody, every director, every technician who is working in cinema, their eyes are on the Golden Globes, Oscars, National Awards, every award.”

He added, “So, definitely, yeah, I would love to take Jawan to the Oscars. Let’s see. I think Khan sir will watch and read this interview. I will also ask him over a call ‘Sir, should we take this film to the Oscars?”

After Pathaan, this is the second time in a row Khan has delivered a Rs 500-crore blockbuster at the box-office, a new record of sorts, with the worldwide total of both the juggernauts being close to Rs 2000 crore.

What next for SRK?

At the success event of Jawan, he confirmed Dunki is surely releasing this Christmas. This shall be his third release of the year after Pathaan and Jawan. The tentative release date of this Rajkumar Hirani directorial is December 22. The last time he had three releases in a year was way back in 2004 when he had Main Hoon Na, Veer Zaara, and Swades.

Treating his insta family last year, Shah Rukh dropped a video, wherein he expressed his happiness that the Dunki team was able to finish the shoot on time and talked about his experience of shooting in Saudi. The actor conveyed special thanks to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture and Films for permitting the crew to shoot at “spectacular locations”. While sharing the video, The Veer-Zaara actor wrote in the caption, “A very big Shukran to Saudi Arabia Ministry Of Culture, the team and all who made this shoot schedule of Dunki so smooth…”
